Terms of Service

Murattal is a study companion for reading, understanding, and memorizing the Quran. It offers a reading experience with translation and transliteration, a spaced-repetition revision system, and AI-generated explanations of individual words.

Murattal is currently available on Android through the Google Play Store, with an iOS release planned. Features may be added, changed, or removed as the app develops.

You must be at least 16 years old to create an account, or at least 13 with the consent of a parent or legal guardian.

You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide and for keeping your password confidential. Activity carried out through your account is treated as your own. Tell us promptly if you believe someone else has gained access to it.

The core reading and revision features are free to use. AI word insights are metered: the free plan includes a limited allowance, and the paid plans raise or remove that limit. The current allowances and prices are the ones shown on our pricing page and at checkout.

Premium is a subscription. It renews automatically — monthly or annually, depending on the term you choose — until you cancel, and each renewal is charged at the start of the new period. Lifetime is a single payment and does not renew.

Payments made on this website are processed by Stripe; purchases made inside the app may be processed by Google Play. We never receive or store your full card details. Prices are shown inclusive of any applicable taxes at checkout.

If we change the price of a subscription, we will tell you beforehand, and the new price will apply only from your next renewal.

You can cancel a subscription at any time. Cancellation stops future renewals; your paid features remain available until the end of the period you have already paid for, and partial periods are not refunded except where the law requires it.

If you are a consumer in the EU or UK, you normally have 14 days to withdraw from a purchase of digital content. Because access is granted immediately, you are asked to consent to immediate performance at checkout and you acknowledge that doing so ends that withdrawal right once access has been provided.

Purchases made through Google Play are subject to Google’s refund policy and may need to be requested through Google. For anything else — a duplicate charge, a payment that did not unlock your plan, a plan that is not working as described — contact us and we will put it right.

Word insights are generated by AI language models. They can be incomplete, imprecise, or simply wrong, and they are offered to support your study — not to replace a qualified teacher or scholar.

Nothing in Murattal constitutes a fatwa, religious ruling, or authoritative interpretation. For matters of belief or practice, please consult a qualified scholar and authoritative sources. If you spot an error in an explanation, report it to us so we can improve it.

Usage allowances exist because each AI explanation carries a real cost to run. They are meant for personal study at a human pace.

You agree not to automate, script, or bulk-generate insights, not to share one account across many people, and not to resell, redistribute, or expose Murattal’s AI output as your own service or API. We may throttle or suspend accounts that place an unreasonable load on the service.

We claim no ownership over the Arabic text of the Quran. Translations, transliterations, and audio recitations are used in accordance with their respective licences and remain the property of their authors and rights holders.

The application itself — its source code, design, interface, and the Murattal name and logo — belongs to us. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use Murattal for your own study. You may not copy, scrape, reverse-engineer, or create derivative works from the app, except where the law expressly permits it.

When using Murattal, you agree not to:

We work to keep Murattal available and reliable, but we cannot guarantee uninterrupted service. Maintenance, updates, and outages of third-party providers may cause temporary interruptions.

We may change, add, or discontinue features. If we materially reduce a feature you have paid for, contact us and we will look for a fair remedy, which may include a refund of the unused portion.

You may stop using Murattal at any time and ask us to delete your account.

We may suspend or terminate access if you seriously or repeatedly breach these Terms, or where we are required to do so by law. When access ends, the licence granted to you ends with it. Termination does not affect rights you have under consumer law.

To the extent permitted by law, Murattal is provided "as is" and we make no warranty that it will be free of errors or that it will meet a particular memorization or learning outcome.

We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses. Where we are liable, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded — including liability for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence — and your mandatory rights as a consumer are unaffected.

How we handle your personal data — what we collect, why, and how long we keep it — is described in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of your agreement with us.

We may update these Terms as the service evolves or the law requires. The date at the top of this page always shows the current version. If a change materially affects your rights, we will give you reasonable notice in the app or by email. Continuing to use Murattal after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms.

These Terms are governed by Italian law. If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory consumer law of your country of residence, nor of your right to bring proceedings before the courts of that country.
